Explanations

  • Airpods Pro 2: these are the most comfortable earbuds for me. I use these for about 90% of immersion. The ANC is great and the battery life is amazing. The case has wireless charging which makes it easy to never run out of battery. I wear these for at least 7 hours a day.

  • Bose Quietcomfort 35 II: The ANC on these is great too, and they are comfortable. Battery life is insane like 16 hours at least. The issue is they make me overheat and subconsciously restrict my head movement which makes my neck hurt.

  • Shokz OpenRun Pro: I love that I can have these on and just let the immersion flow without needing to pause to talk to others. I generally use these when leaving the house and when my ears start hurting from my airpods.

  • Samson Q2U: This is an old microphone I got about 5 years ago. It has live feedback through an aux cable.

  • Sony earbuds: These are cheap wired earbuds. They fit well and let me listen to my Q2U live feedback underneath my headphones. The only issue is that they are a bit too noise isolating. I also used these when doing passive immersion with a dedicated mp3 player, but I don’t do that anymore.

  • HyperX Cloud Revolver Headphones: These are my gaming headphones and I use them for chorusing because my Bose QCs go into a weird low audio quality mode when I’m using the Q2U. I think newer models wouldn’t do that, but it’s not a good reason to upgrade. These HyperX headphones work great.

  • Mac Studio: I prefer Mac over Windows for many reasons. The main is that Mac is easier to develop on because it’s a UNIX based OS. Also, the Mac experience is better and Windows has ads and spyware and bloatware and so on. Plus I can text from my computer, which is neat. A desktop is easiest for using complicated scripts and browser add-ons and such. But I generally prefer to immerse away from my desk.

  • iPad Air: This iPad now lives where I eat and I use it to immerse during meals.

  • iPhone: I like iPhones although Androids would have more flexibility for immersing. I don’t do a ton of immersion on my phone.

  • TV: I do probably 50% of my active immersion on my couch watching my TV. I use a Google TV Streamer because my TV is a bit old and the integrated smart-TV features aren’t very good.

  • 8BitDo Zero 2: I use this for Anki. I almost exclusively use it through the iPhone and I have it set up for my mining set up, not for reviewing.

  • Soroban: I don’t really use this, but I’m including it here as it’s part of my immersion equipment. I plan to use it in the future to help me learn numbers in a more innate way.
